Design and Application of a Travel Survey for European Long-Distance Trips Based on an International Network of Expertise
The project, funded under the Fifth Framework Programme, concerned the definition and the implementation of a survey at the European scale, focused on passengers’ long-distance journeys across European Member States. The survey was targeted at collecting all the relevant information to implement a database capable of supporting urban planning activity. The project was carried on by a partnership involving organizations, universities and companies from Austria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, Swiss and United Kingdom. In Italy the survey was targeted on a sample of around 13,000 households.
