URBIO BAUHAUS
URBIO BAUHAUS involves 10 partners from 6 Central European countries: Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences (Poland), City of Kranj (Slovenia), Institute for Sustainable Development (Slovenia), City of Pula (Croatia), POR Cosult (Croatia), BURST Nonprofit Llc (Hungary), Poliedra (Italy), Wismar University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Municipality of Wroclaw (Poland), Érd County City (Hungary).
The project aims at tackling biodiversity loss in urban and peri-urban areas by leveraging the core values of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative within design and implementation of sustainable development measures. NEB steers sustainable transformations based on the core values of sustainability, inclusion and aesthetics. Therefore, URBIO BAUHAUS will:
- Develop and implementation of a combination of NEB-based approaches and targeted measures to significantly halt and reverse biodiversity loss in urban areas
- Incorporate citizens’ visions into design and planning of NEB-based urban biodiversity solutions and work towards citizens’ perception change of sustainable transformations
- Deliver a transnational policy master plan for NEB-based urban biodiverse transitions and foster long-term cooperation between science, policy and practice.
Case-specific urban biodiversity solutions will be realised in pilot sites selected by 4 partner cities, Pula, Wroclaw, Kranj, Érd.
Poliedra is leading WP 3 – Transposing URBIO BAUHAUS Solutions into Policy and Governance. The work package focuses on providing a comprehensive legislative, policy and decision-making framework and deliver a Central European strategy for NEB-based urban biodiverse transitions. Hence WP 3 aims at ensuring the replicability and wider uptake of the project’s activities and results. The work package also includes proper dissemination and stakeholders engagement activities in order to transfer knowledge and support replication.
