Reversible and Flexible measures for Energy saving in transportation management

Poliedra coordinated the REFLEX project, funded by European Commission Energy DG and regarding the optimization of traffic components and of the transport system with the purpose of saving energy and reducing both acoustic and atmospheric pollution.

Following a common methodology, five European city-based case studies have been considered (Como, Volos, Wiener, Neustadt and York). On the basis of the simulations of “light” traffic management and pricing policies that have been carried on, the overall performance of such measures in terms of energy savings has been calculated and assessed. As an outcome of the assessment, guidelines for further implementations have been published.
