Last week, Poliedra and the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering (DEIB) – Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) hosted the first round of short staff visits within the CROSS-REIS project, marking an important milestone in strengthening research collaboration among partner institutions.

The visit brought together academic and non-academic representatives from the University of Niš (Serbia), University of Montenegro, University of Rijeka (Croatia), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), CO-PLAN Institute for Habitat Development (Albania), and Development Solutions Associates – DSA (Albania).

Throughout the week, participants engaged in several activities designed to promote interdisciplinary exchange and joint scientific work. Highlights included:

  • a networking session with professors from POLIMI’s departments, fostering new connections and opportunities for collaboration
  • joint research workshops focused on urban ecosystem accounting, biodiversity, and regenerative urban development
  • workshops exploring EU-funded programmes, project management strategies, and ways to strengthen administrative and research support capacities.

These sessions contributed to the ongoing development of collaborative research outputs under the project’s Work Package 5: Research and Innovation Excellence

The week also included bilateral meetings and consultations that set the direction for the next joint studies and rounds of short visits, to be hosted by CROSS-REIS partners  EMEA (Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association) and OsloMet (Oslo Metropolitan University) in upcoming project phases.
