In September 2026, the Municipality of Milan launched a participatory and public consultation process on the future M6 metro line, to accompany the studies and technical assessments concerning the development and expansion of the city’s metro network. The process aims to make the project scenarios currently under study understandable, explain their criteria, opportunities and critical issues, and collect needs, local knowledge and input from the areas concerned. The process seeks to involve residents, city users and stakeholders, with particular attention to groups that are more difficult to reach through traditional institutional channels.

The participatory process runs from October 2026 to March 2027 through a sequence of information, listening, discussion and feedback activities, structured into several phases:

• Public launch event (October 2026) – Presents the technical scenarios under study and the participation process, while also placing the Milan project in dialogue with experiences developed in other cities.
• Workshop for stakeholders and experts (November 2026) – Provides an opportunity to explore the scenarios in greater depth and identify key themes and questions to be addressed during the broader listening phase.
• Local listening sessions across the city (November 2026 – January 2027) – Directly engage residents and city users in the Municipalities and neighbourhoods concerned. Through temporary outreach points set up in everyday public spaces, the activities collect needs, local knowledge, critical issues and opportunities related to the future M6 and the areas it will serve.
• Scenario workshop (February 2027) – The contributions collected are analysed and systematised, connecting input from local communities with the technical and strategic elements that emerged during the process.
• Public presentation of the outcomes (March 2027) – Presentation and sharing of the final report of the participatory process.

Throughout all phases, the Milano Partecipa platform supports the process by making information, documents, materials and updates available. Communication, monitoring and reporting activities run across the entire participatory process.

Poliedra’s role

Poliedra is the lead partner of the Temporary Grouping of Companies appointed to deliver the participatory process, together with Ascolto Attivo and Leftloft. Working with Ascolto Attivo and in close coordination with the offices of the Municipality of Milan, Poliedra is responsible for:

• designing the methodological framework and overall structure of the process;
• mapping stakeholders and defining engagement strategies for different audiences, with particular attention to hard-to-reach groups;
• ensuring coordination between the participatory process and the technical stakeholders involved in the M6 studies;
• designing and facilitating workshops and local listening sessions;
• translating technical content into clear and accessible information that can be used in participatory activities;
• collecting, analysing and systematising the contributions gathered;
• monitoring the process and preparing interim and final reports.
