P-IRIS

Policies to improve rural areas’ innovation systems by professionalizing networking and use of innovation tools

P-IRIS, co-financed by the Interreg Europe programme, aimed at working on policies supporting innovation in rural areas in six European countries (Croatia, Finland, Italy, Norway, Slovenia, Spain). In each country, the project identified a pilot area in a rural zone. By improving innovation policies and by mutual learning among partners, the objective of the project was to stimulate innovation in the main economic sectors of the pilot areas, in order to counter depopulation and the flight of younger generations.

Poliedra is the territorial partner in Lombardy (Italy). The regional government provided a letter of support signed by the Managing Authority of ERDF ROP (Axes 1, 3 and 6). Poliedra organized all local and regional working groups in the Valcamonica area and contributed to outline a regional Action Plan on innovation in non-urban areas. Furthermore, in the second phase of the project, Poliedra monitored the realization of the Action Plan. At the final conference of the project, the Position Paper outlining the 7 P-Iris key messages has been presented and adopted.
